Kings, generals, and emperors traveled from across the Mediterranean to consult the Pythia — the priestess who channeled the god Apollo to deliver prophecies that shaped the course of civilizations.
Modern geology has revealed a remarkable truth: the Temple of Apollo sits directly above the intersection of two geological fault lines. These faults release ethylene gas — a sweet-smelling hydrocarbon that, in controlled doses, produces exactly the trance states described in ancient accounts.
